How Can We Know?

The Bible is the most recognized and most popular book in the history of mankind. What claims to be the authoritative Word of God contains a record of historical events which span a period over 4,000 years of human experience, along with the answers to life’s greatest mysteries.

Is the Bible actual truth? Why is it so commonly misunderstood and more importantly, could a book written thousands of years ago have significance for our lives today?

At one end of the spectrum, many intellectuals believe the Bible is inaccurate and without scientific or historical proof. On the other end, many believers assume, on faith alone, that the Bible is fact. People discredit it without proof, and people believe it without proof.

Don’t believe whatever you read on the internet or simply continue the traditions of your church – the Bible encourages you to prove it yourself (1 Thessalonians 5:21)! Take the time to discover the truth inside the most powerful book, and allow God the opportunity to change your life!

What God Has Written Actually Happens and Works.

Since our Creator is filled with supreme power, wisdom, and love, wouldn’t He want us to understand His plan? Wouldn’t God have a natural desire to reveal His existence and purpose for our creation, as well as share the path to the most wonderful and fulfilling life? God didn’t leave us in the dark – He wants us to know!

Through the Bible, we can understand the reason we’re here. We’re also given the laws that, without fail, will lead us to genuine fulfillment, unprecedented peace, and happiness which can only be achieved through the Word of God.

Our Loving Father made His fundamental truth accessible to mankind. He inspired His servants to record the foundation of knowledge and He revealed that knowledge in the Holy Bible. This now serves as His instruction Book for us all.

2 Timothy 3:16-17 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.

Why Do So Few Understand?

The original texts of the Bible were written over 1500 years by more than 40 different authors. It's preserved with perfect internal consistency and without contradiction. Countless archeological discoveries have tested, proven, and confirmed the accuracy of the Bible, yet so few accept the facts. If God wants us to know His plan and wrote His Book explicitly for that purpose, why don’t more recognize the Bible as the foundation of life?

Unfortunately mankind has turned away from truth and has surrendered to its own ideas. Instead of letting the Bible clarify itself, people interpret it with their own human reasoning and logic.

Proverbs 14:12 There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death.
Isaiah 30:8-10 Now go, write it before them on a tablet, and note it on a scroll, that it may be for time to come, forever and ever: that this is a rebellious people, lying children, children who will not hear the law of the Lord; Who say to the seers, “Do not see,” and to the prophets, “Do not prophesy to us right things; speak to us smooth things, prophesy deceits.

In order to understand the Bible we must yield to the Eternal’s will, submitting to His instruction, without adding to it or taking away from it (Revelation 22:18-19). We ought to obey God rather than men (Acts 5:29) with a profound respect for His Word (Isaiah 66:2).

Psalm 111:7-8, 10 The works of His hands are verity and justice; all His precepts are sure. They stand fast forever and ever, and are done in truth and uprightness...; The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom; a good understanding have all those who do His commandments.

Simple Answers to the Biggest Questions...

Only the Bible itself professes to be the infallible, divine revelation of truth, given to us by the very Creator of the entire universe. With that incredible realization, we find the answers to life’s greatest mysteries and the introduction to God’s way of life.

  • Where did the universe originate?
Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
  • How did we get here?
    Genesis 2:7
And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being.
  • Were we put on earth for a purpose?
    1 John 3:2
Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is.
  • Why are so many lives empty and destructive?
    Romans 1:21
because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened.
  • How can we lead a peaceful and happy life?
Proverbs 3:1-2 My son, do not forget my law, but let your heart keep my commands; For length of days and long life and peace they will add to you.

  • What is the real cause of war?
    James 4:1
Where do wars and fights come from among you? Do they not come from your desires for pleasure that war in your members?
  • Is there a way to achieve world peace?
    1 John 5:2-3
By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and keep His commandments. For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome.
  • What lies beyond death?
    Revelation 21:6-7
And He said to me, “It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. I will give of the fountain of the water of life freely to him who thirsts. He who overcomes shall inherit all things, and I will be his God and he shall be My son.
  • What is God’s instruction for man to inherit eternal life?
    John 6:40
And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him may have everlasting life; and I will raise him up at the last day.

The Bible is God's divine revelation of the most fundamental knowledge. If we take the time to give an honest examination of God’s Word and relinquish our own ideas, we can uncover His answers for our incredible purpose!

Prophecy Confirms Divine Origin.

In your Bible, One claims that HE is God, saying He removes and raises up kings and nations (Psalm 76:6-7, Daniel 2:21), that He carries out His judgments throughout the course of history (Daniel 4:35, Jeremiah 27:5), and that He can foretell without fail the future of cities and empires (Isaiah 44:24-28).

It is the only book which has predicted, centuries in advance, the troubling conditions of our world; the only book that explains why suffering exists, and the only book that shares the joy of our remarkable future with Jesus Christ dwelling on the earth.

Isaiah 46:9-10 Remember the former things of old, for I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like Me, declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times things that are not yet done, saying, ‘My counsel shall stand, and I will do all My pleasure,’

Nearly one-third of the Bible is prophecy, including more than 125 prophecies in the Old Testament of the Messiah, and countless more revealing the destiny for this world. Prophecy serves as a powerful tool confirming God as the supreme Being – the Author and Originator of the text!

2 Peter 1:20-21 knowing this first, that no prophecy of Scripture is of any private interpretation, for prophecy never came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit.

Put God's Word to the Test!

The reality that adherence to the Word of God actually brings about wonderful blessings is another remarkable proof of the legitimacy of the Bible. God’s way works, and He expects us to hold Him to His Word!

Malachi 3:10 “Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be food in My house, and try Me now in this,” says the Lord of hosts, “If I will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you such blessing that there will not be room enough to receive it.

The goal for each of us is to yield to His instruction and let go of our own pride and ego. While the Bible shows us every flaw in our thinking and reveals the weaknesses of our character (Jeremiah 17:9-10)( Psalm 14:3), this unique understanding is the necessary beginning of our new (and better) life – one centered on truth.

Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

The Word of God cuts deep as it opens up and exposes our innermost thoughts. However, as we embrace His correction and guidance, the path to an abundant life filled with happiness and peace is revealed.

If we take the truth found in the pages of the Bible and use it to live according to every word (Luke 4:4), we will certainly discover a powerful relationship with our Creator and find the answers many have pursued for a lifetime!
